Ryon Gesink originally hails from Kalamazoo, Michigan and credits as his influences, among other things: RE/Search Publications, William Burroughs, J.G. Ballard, Francis Bacon, 20th century warfare, evolutionary theory, Noam Chomsky, bass fishing, Pabst Blue Ribbon, the Sex Pistols and so on. I work in various media to expand on the notion of technology as an extension of man's mind/body/sexuality etc. through matter. Very curious to see what sort of metaphors and rituals would develop among the offspring of a gaggle of evolutionary biologists and neuroscientists stranded on a desert island for a few centuries.

"I paint, collage, write, have built a Bodily and Sensory Extension Suit nicknamed 'The Ryborg' (photo by Julian Supersnail) and a rolling spherical desert vehicle known as the F#$% Machine. Large sculptural projects, a website, and music are in the works.

My work has appeared at several Burning Man festivals, Dadafest 4, in CHURN magazine, and at various galleries, art spaces and industrial areas in Seattle and San Francisco."
